This Starfield PlayStation 5 icons mod is your best bet for experiencing Bethesda’s hit with some PS5 vibes.
Starfield is out now through early access on both PC and Xbox and as covered earlier today, modders have already released various mods for Betheda’s sci-fi RPG. A lot has been written about the game not releasing on PS5 following Microsoft’s purchase of Bethesda in 2020 (the deal was completed in 2021). Interestingly enough, some months ago, Xbox boss Phil Spencer acknowledged that Microsoft bought Bethesda to stop Sony from getting Starfield exclusivity. ““When we acquired ZeniMax one of the impetus for that is that Sony had done a deal for Deathloop and Ghostwire… to pay Bethesda to not ship those games on Xbox”, Spencer said during testimony in the Microsoft/Activision-Blizzard FTC case. “So, the discussion about Starfield when we heard that Starfield was potentially also going to end up skipping Xbox, we can’t be in a position as a third-place console where we fall further behind on our content ownership so we’ve had to secure content to remain viable in the business.”
With the big title that Starfield is, and the game now being exclusive to Xbox and PC, you can imagine the disappointment for some wanting to have enjoyed the game on PlayStation 5. Luckily, modder ‘EASKATER’ has now released a mod that, in a way, provides a PS5 experience while playing Starfield on PC. The PS5 Icons mod replaces the Xbox icons to the iconic PlayStation icons, which might be useful for PC players playing the game with a DualSense controller. Going through the comments made by users of the mod, there are still some bugs at this point, and it seems that it only supports English. We’re pretty sure that future versions of the mod will address some of the bugs.

“At the start of my journey in Starfield, my experience was admittedly rather dull and boring, but as I collected more Artifacts and got involved in the sprawling sci-fi universe created by Bethesda, I started warming up the game, getting to the point that I have some difficulty putting it down. While Starfield refines more than innovates the typical Bethesda formula, it is undoubtedly one of the best games ever made by the studio and one of the year’s finest titles.”
